[Far left] Peter Shaw miraculously salvaged a draw against Chris Booth, and won replay. 

[near left] John Hill managed to win the new David Woodhouse trophy [section 2b] by defeating Bill Lumley. 

 

[near left] Chris Stratford survived an opening disadvantage to beat Norman Battye [right] and win section 3. 

[left further] Dave Gray played a good positional game, obtained an endgame advantage a pawn to the good, and defeated section 2a holder Roger Tuddenham [further right].
